1. Scuba Diving

Scuba diving is breathing underwater. It is the only way to explore the blue universe underwater to bustling with turtles, whales, fins and dolphins. Sri Lanka offers great opportunities for fellow travellers to experience underwater universe across its few cities such as Unawatuna, Trincomalee, Nilaveli, Pigeon Island and Hikkaduwa. All year around activity suits for both fun divers as well as for those who are looking to be PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) certified divers. Can choose between Reef Dives, Rock Dives and deep and Night Dives usually up to maximum distance of 30m. Due to this deep dive, scuba divers are necessary to wear special equipment in order to assure diver’s safety.

Who cannot perform Scuba Diving?​

Scuba diving is not recommended for pregnant people, people with serious heart or lung problems and not confident swimmers.

Scuba Diving Equipments

Full face Mask : Wearing this gives clear view and preventing any harm happening to face underwater hence gives optimum comfort and safety. It also prevent the view from distorting, eliminate the dizziness and let the diver focuses properly on his activity.
Single lens Mask : Comes with a Snorkel attach to it that eliminate water entering inside the snorkel. Comes with adjustable head strap that fits any sized face for both men and women. Small in size so choose this mask if you have issues with space in your storage bag.
Full body Diving wetsuit : This would keep you warm underwater. Do not need a dry wet suite and only a Shorty wetsuit is recommended for tropical diving in Sri Lanka.
Gloves : This glove suits for any kind of activity among Diving, Snorkeling, Kayaking and Surfing etc.
Diving Tank : (Mini Scuba Diving Cylinder) : Scuba Tank is filled and provide you with pressurized air. Regulators provides air with the right pressure to breath underwater comfortably. Also a Depth Gauge. Scuba Tank gives divers’ air that filled with compressed air such as Nitrox, Trimix and Oxygen.
Diving Computer : Dive computer measures the time and the depth of the dive and able to transmit data from the tank to the computer.
Diving Fins : Fins can accelerate your movements and provides efficient and best experience in the water and protects divers feet from cold, scratches or any damages that can happen underwater.
Diving Torch : Diving Flashlight/Torch can clear your path underwater.

2. Snorkeling

Snorkeling is considered as one of the top 5 activities in the world. Unlike scuba diving snorkelling doesn’t involve diving in to deep water, instead stay at the water’s surface. Basic snorkelling all you need is a mask what would help seeing underwater clearly and a snorkel or breathing tube in order to help breathing while underwater. Especially in tropical waters such as in Sri Lanka doesn’t require dry suit or gloves.

3. Surfing

Sri Lanka offers world class surfing possibilities. Arugam Bay is considered to be the best surf spot in Sri Lanka and infact one of the best among the Surf scense considering its high waves.
When and where to Surf​
Anyone can surf from November till April in the southern coastal cities of Sri Lanka such as Hikkaduwa, Unawatuna, Midigama, Weligama , Mirissa, Madiha, Hiriketiya. These beaches are best for beginners to intermediate surfers considering its level of waves. Surf season for Arugam Bay starts from April until September.
